Pilgrimage to COP27 - Glasgow to Sharm al Sheik

As part of our network response to the climate and ecological emergency we are going to work together to walk and pray all the way to COP27.  This is going to be a long journey in lots of little bits - raising awareness of the climate and ecological crisis, praying as we journey, and treasuring the beauty of creation all around us: God's good gift, our shared home.

Watch this space for some shared walks you can join in with, but you can get started any time! Simply walk, ride, or roll on your own or with others - praying for our world while you walk - then add your miles to our total using this simple online form https://forms.gle/uuicVUWGsG1BbTKUA  Let’s see if together we can reach 3,327 miles by COP27.

"Act justly, love mercy and walk humbly" (Micah 6:8)

We registered with Eco Church at the end of 2020, at first just exploring with a small working group. In early 2021 we made a commitment at PCC to work towards a bronze award, and achieved this in September 2021 and are now working towards silver!

We are still working out what this will involve, but have already started by:

  • Regularly including environment and climate issues in our worship and prayer

  • Encouraging individual changes and action - e.g. by registering with the household survey tool http://creationcare.org.uk/ and encouraging litter picking

  • Fundraising towards ‘twinning’ all of our taps and toilets - find out more at http://toilettwinning.org/

To help communicate and let people share ideas and progress we have set up a dedicated Eco Church group for the Christ Church Bridlington Network. You can check it out and join in the conversation here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/454735362376451
